Tirupati:US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams visited the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala on Tuesday and offered prayers to the presiding deity.

Williams, accompanied by a seven-member delegation, wore a traditional kurta during her visit. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials welcomed the delegation, arranged darshan and later presented Williams with Srivari Teertha Prasadam.

As part of her Tirupati visit, Williams also visited the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati and held discussions with its senior academic leadership on strengthening academic and research cooperation between India and the United States.

Williams highlighted the long-standing academic partnership between the two countries and its role in promoting research, innovation and technology. She said the cooperation had expanded into emerging and strategic areas, including AI, advanced technology, critical minerals and semiconductors.

Earlier, Shobha Chandrasekhar, mother of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and playback singer, also offered prayers at Tirumala during VIP Break Darshan. She was accompanied by family members. TTD officials arranged her darshan and presented Srivari Teertha Prasadams.
