Naidu and Pawan Kalyan have stressed the need to avoid differences between the two parties during the polls.

Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan held a meeting on Monday, focusing on coordination between the Telugu Desam and Jana Sena for the forthcoming local body elections.

Among other things, they discussed seat adjustments and cooperation at the grassroots level.

The meeting lasted nearly two hours and is learnt to have planned a joint strategy for coordination between the parties and work towards securing a resounding victory for the ruling alliance. Cooperation from grassroots to state level would be ensured.

The two parties would jointly monitor issues arising during the elections and ensure their speedy resolution.

Seat-sharing will be based largely on local conditions and the relative strength of the two parties in various areas. The two leaders have agreed in principle that the party with a stronger organisational base and greater influence in each locality would enter the fray.

The influence of local leaders, the organisational strength of the parties and ground-level political conditions would be taken into consideration while finalising the seat-sharing.

Naidu and Pawan Kalyan have stressed the need to avoid differences between the two parties during the polls. A clear message on alliance unity and mutual coordination would be conveyed to leaders and cadres at the grassroots level.

The proposed joint mechanism may continuously monitor coordination between the alliance partners and escalate local issues to the state level for resolution.

The two leaders are expected to meet again soon to discuss the election strategy in detail.
