Vijayawada:Farmers from Undavalli village in the Amaravati Capital Region on Wednesday opposed the proposed expansion of land pooling. They alleged that the government is trying to acquire their lands forcibly without honouring its earlier assurances.

Addressing a press conference, Farmer Association state vice-president Jonna Siva Sankar Rao said land values in Undavalli had sharply declined due to uncertainty over zoning rules, restrictions on building permissions, and fears of further acquisition.

He pointed out that while rates had increased in areas such as Tadepalli, Penumaka and Mandadam, Undavalli farmers are suffering losses despite being close to Vijayawada. He accused authorities of laying roads in lands not voluntarily given for the N1 road project. “We oppose any attempt to take our lands forcibly,” he asserted.

CPM Capital Division secretary M. Ravi demanded implementation of promises made to farmers who surrendered land for the Seed Axis Road. He alleged that officials are threatening farmers to part with their land without due consent or holding talks with them.

Farmer leader Eswar Reddy alleged that the government is acting unlawfully by acquiring additional lands in the name of buffer zones and N1 zone. He demanded the removal of E1 and Green Zone restrictions.

Farmer Sanakam Koteswara Rao demanded higher compensation and removal of the proposed buffer zone restrictions.
