Two Booked Under PD Act in Kadapa District
The two accused have been lodged in the Central Prison
KADAPA: The Kadapa police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two alleged habitual offenders, stating that their activities were prejudicial to public order and safety.
According to the police, R.B.S. Zaheeruddin alias Abbas alias Sheikh Zaheeruddin, 30, a resident of Chennur mandal, is accused in multiple cases involving obstruction of public servants from discharging their duties, unlawful assembly, alleged attempts to incite communal tensions, dissemination of misinformation on social media and criminal intimidation of government officials.
Police said 10 cases have been registered against him in Kadapa district and alleged that his activities posed a threat to public peace.
In another case, police invoked the PD Act against Tonda Shanti alias Kasamma, 36, a native of East Godavari district, alleging her repeated involvement in theft and other property-related offences. Police said 38 cases have been registered against her in Kadapa and other districts.
According to officials, the detention orders were issued under Section 2(f) of the Andhra Pradesh Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1986. Acting on the directions of district SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, proposals were submitted to the district collector, who issued the detention orders on July 22.
The two accused have been lodged in the Central Prison.
