Amaravati: The state-level competitions of Amaravati Championship-2.0, aimed at identifying and encouraging sporting talent in Andhra Pradesh, will be held in Tirupati from August 24 to 27, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A Ravi Naidu said on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, he said around 2.07 lakh athletes participated in competitions held across 175 constituencies, while 83,650 athletes took part in the district-level competitions.
Around 10,000 athletes, along with coaches, referees and PETs, are expected to participate in the state-level competitions, which will be held in the Under-17 and Under-23 categories, he said.

The event is providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, where district-level competitions will be conducted, followed by the State-level events. Winners will receive their awards on National Sports Day on August 29.

The competitions will be held in 12 sports disciplines, and the target is to attract the participation of students from villages and urban areas alike. He added that the championship reflects the government’s commitment to promoting sports and transforming Andhra Pradesh into a leading sporting state.
