Tirupati: A lorry driver had a narrow escape after the vehicle collided with a hillock and caught fire on the Bakarapet Ghat Road in Chandragiri mandal of Tirupati district on Sunday.

According to reports, the lorry, loaded with pipes, was travelling from Berhampur in Maharashtra to Tirupati. When it reached the Bakarapet Ghat Road near Chandragiri, the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle collided with a hillock.

Soon after the impact, flames erupted from the lorry's engine. Noticing the fire, the driver managed to get out of the vehicle in time and escaped unhurt. The lorry was completely gutted in the ensuing fire.

Chandragiri police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
