Tiger Kills Three Cows in Torredu, Holiday on Monday For Schools in Area

Kakinada: A 4–5-year-old male tiger entered Torredu village in Rajanagaram mandal of East Godavari district on Saturday night and killed three cows.
District forest officer V. Prabhakara Rao, forest division range officer David Raj Naidu and the deputy forest range officer Ch. Srinivasa Rao, along with their teams, have visited the spot and the surrounding areas. They have spotted the pugmarks of the tiger.
According to the forest officials, the tiger has been in the Koyyalagudem area in Polavaram district a few days ago. They disclosed that they have already installed 11 cameras to track the movements of the tiger. They suspect the tiger may be hiding in the maize crops in the area.
Foresters have stationed themselves in the Torredu area. They have advised people not to move out alone. In case they need to tend to their fields, they must be in groups.
Following the tiger’s movement, East Godavari district education officer K. Vasudeva Rao has declared a holiday for schools in the Korukonda, Seethanagaram and Rajamahendravaram Rural mandal limits on Monday.
He asked headmasters not to open the schools on Monday. He advised parents to keep their children inside. He asked people to keep their areas well-lit during the nights.
District collector in-charge Y. Megha Swaroop asked people to follow the directives issued by the officials.
