Vijayawada: Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said the state government was moving ahead with the Yogandhra programme, which was launched on May 21 in line with the aspirations of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to realise Aarogya Ananda Swarna Andhra. The CS has called upon the people to move together to make the programme a grand success.

The CS participated in the Police Theme Yoga programme, organised at Vijayawada BRTS Yoga Street on Thursday and practiced yoga asanas along with senior IAS and IPS officers.
The programme was organised under the auspices of the Ayush department, NTR district administration, district police commissionerate and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
The CS said, “We are organising a special Yogandhra programme with 26 themes in 26 districts. Theme yoga is being organised to bring yoga closer to every section of the society. We are organising programmes to explain the uniqueness of yoga and create awareness in about 100 tourist areas across the state. Four to five tourist areas have been identified in each district for this. Let us work towards the success of Yogandhra with this spirit.”
Special chief secretary (medical and health) M.T. Krishna Babu said the Yogandhra, which started across the state on May 21, has received good response. He pointed out that people from all walks of life are participating in the programme in almost all districts, and in some districts, more than the target has been registered.
Chief commissioner of land administration and special officer of NTR district G. Jayalakshmi said everyone should be aware of the valuable yoga wealth provided by Indian culture and connect with yoga in their daily lives to lead a prosperous life. She said yoga should be continued as a good habit throughout life.
NTR district collector Dr G. Lakshmisha said yoga asana programmes are being held every day across the district as part of Yogandhra and theme yoga organised on the BRTS Yoga Street. “We have already organised theme yoga programmes with journalists, yoga training institutions, representatives of government employee unions and vehicle drivers,” the collector said.
Vijayawada police commissioner S.V. Rajasekhara Babu expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of Police Yogandhra, which was organised with nearly 5,000 police officers, staff and yoga enthusiasts at the BRTS Yoga Street on Thursday.
As part of the programme, the artistic yoga performances by children were impressive.
