“Thank You, CM – Thank You Lokesh” Programme Celebrates TD’s Landmark Decision
Rajya Sabha MP says Andhra Pradesh has set a benchmark for women’s empowerment.
Vijayawada: Describing the Telugu Desam’s decision to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in party positions as a historic step, Rajya Sabha MP Sana Satish Babu said AP has set an example for the entire country in promoting women’s political empowerment.
Speaking at the “Thank You CM – Thank You Lokesh” programme held at his office on Sunday, the Rajya Sabha member said that while the Women’s Reservation Bill remained pending at the national level, the TD took the lead by announcing 33 per cent reservation for women from the Mahanadu platform. This reflected the party’s commitment to ensuring greater representation and participation of women in public life, he said.
The event, organised in Kakinada, was presided over by TD’s spokesperson Sunkara Pavani. Among those who attended were former MLA and TDP state general secretary Pilli Ananthalakshmi, MLC Karri Padmasri, TD state secretary Vanamadi Sushmita and Amalapuram parliamentary constituency leader Rajeswari.
A notable feature of the programme was that women took complete charge of its organisation and proceedings.
While women leaders led the event, Satish Babu, MLC Perabathula Rajasekhar and district president Jyothula Naveen Kumar sat in the back rows and watched the proceedings conducted entirely by women.
MLAs Nimmakayala Chinarajappa and Jyothula Nehru, along with several party leaders and women representatives, attended the event. Following the programme, women participants joined an informal luncheon hosted by Satish Babu and celebrated the party’s announcement with enthusiasm.
