Special Toll-Free Number For Stray Dog Menace
MLA Adireddy Srinivas assured that officials would respond promptly to complaints and take necessary action
KAKINADA: Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddy Srinivas announced that the municipal corporation has introduced a special toll-free number (7093221991) for residents to report issues related to stray dogs, including large numbers on streets or dog bite incidents. He assured that officials would respond promptly to complaints and take necessary action.
During his inspection of the animal birth control centre at quarry centre, he reviewed ongoing sterilization and anti-rabies vaccination programmes. He stated that from June 1, 2024, around 25,865 stray dogs were identified within city limits, of which 12,126 have already been sterilized and vaccinated. Additionally, a special vaccination drive launched on May 1 is administering 10,000 anti-rabies doses across all wards.
The MLA emphasised that the government is implementing proactive and stringent measures to ensure public safety, especially after a recent dog attack incident in Visakhapatnam. A dedicated supervisor has also been appointed to monitor operations.
He criticized the YSR Congress for allegedly neglecting veterinary services earlier, while noting that modern equipment has now been introduced using CSR funds. He advised citizens, particularly parents, to be cautious during summer as stray dogs may behave unpredictably.
