Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu Visits Mandela Residence, Lion Safari Park
Mr Ayyanna Patrudu recalled Mandela’s movement against the apartheid regime and his legacy of courage and justice.
Vijayawada:AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu on Saturday visited the residence of Bharat Ratna Nelson Mandela in Soweto, South Africa. The historic house, now a museum dedicated to Mandela, evoked memories of his struggle against apartheid. Mr Ayyanna Patrudu recalled Mandela’s movement against the apartheid regime and his legacy of courage and justice.
Earlier in the day, Ayyanna Patrudu, who also serves as chairman of the Committee on Protection of Wildlife and Environment, visited the Lion and Safari Park near Johannesburg. After undertaking a safari and observing animals in vast enclosures, he interacted with park officials to understand the management practices at the facility.
The Speaker’s visit comes in the context of recent inspections by the committee at the zoos in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. Recommendations were made to improve visitor experience and strengthen zoo management in Andhra Pradesh. The study of South Africa’s safari model is expected to provide insights for enhancing wildlife tourism and conservation efforts in the state.
Ayyanna Patrudu was accompanied by Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, secretary-general to the Legislature.
