Software Engineer Killed With Container Overturning at Chittoor Checkpost
The accident led to a heavy traffic congestion on the highway
Nellore: A 33-year-old software engineer died in a road accident at Yadamari Cross on the Chennai–Bengaluru National Highway in Chittoor on Friday around 8 a.m.
Police said K. Kumar of Tamil Nadu had been driving a container lorry towards Bengaluru in a rash and negligent manner. A Pulsar motorcycle ridden by Y. Chandran of Vellore is said to have entered the national highway from the Yadamari side without noticing the oncoming lorry.
In an attempt to avoid hitting the motorcycle, lorry driver Kumar swerved to the right and then suddenly to the left, causing the loaded container to topple off the vehicle. The toppling container fell onto an Alto car proceeding towards Chennai, completely crushing it. Driver of the car D. Anudeepak, 33, a native of Ramapuram in Gudipala mandal and a software employee with Wipro in Bengaluru, died on the spot. A bachelor, he had been travelling alone in the car at the time of the mishap.
In the mishap, motorcyclist Chandran suffered injuries on his right foot and shoulder.
Chittoor Traffic circle inspector G. Nithya Babu and Two Town CI Nettikantayya rushed to the spot. With the help of a crane and JCB, they extricated the victim’s body from the mangled car. The accident led to a heavy traffic congestion on the highway.
Police have registered a case against the lorry driver. Further investigations are on.
