Sloth Bear Electrocuted in Mango Orchard

Anantapur:A male sloth bear died of electrocution in RB Vanka village of Rayadurg mandal in Anantapur district on Wednesday after reportedly coming into contact with an electrical transformer in a mango orchard.
According to forest officials, the bear is believed to have entered the orchard owned by farmer Jayaram Naik from a nearby hillock in search of food. After feeding on mangoes, the animal is suspected to have accidentally touched a live transformer while leaving the orchard, resulting in its death on the spot during the early hours of Wednesday.
The farmer alerted forest and police officials, who rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary inquiry. Forest Deputy Range Officer Damodar Reddy and his staff inspected the site. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation. The incident has renewed concerns over the safety of wild animals entering agricultural fields in search of food and water.
