SCR Chief Leads Cleanliness Drive At Vizag Station

Visakhapatnam:South Coast Railway general manager Sandeep Mathur personally led a cleanliness drive at Visakhapatnam railway station on Thursday as part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS)-2026 campaign under the theme ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’.
Mathur was joined by principal heads of departments, senior officers and staff in the intensive drive covering the Gnanapuram circulating and station entry areas, pathways and adjoining premises. After the Shramdaan, he conducted a cleanliness inspection across the station, with particular focus on platform No. 8.
He inspected drinking water booths, waiting halls, catering stalls, foot overbridges and track beds. Reviewing waste segregation, handling and disposal procedures, Mathur directed officials to adopt modern and scientific disposal mechanisms.
He also interacted with passengers to seek feedback on cleanliness and amenities. Mathur appealed to passengers to support the Swachh Bharat mission by avoiding littering on tracks and concourses and using designated segregated waste bins.
