NELLORE: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy said tenders would soon be invited for road works worth Rs 16 crore in Buchireddypalem as part of the Rs 45-crore development package announced by the municipal administration department.

Speaking after participating in the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme at Kazanagar on Saturday, she said efforts would be made to address complaints about poor roads in the town.

The MLA inspected sanitation works and said the Kazanagar park would be developed with support from the VPR Foundation. She also announced that gym equipment would be provided for local Muslim women following their request.

She said the VPR Foundation was supporting the development of the local Urdu school, including additional classrooms, to enable minority students to continue their education beyond Class VIII.

On the proposed Shadi Manzil, Prashanthi Reddy said Rs 50 lakh had been proposed to the government and that works would initially be taken up with Rs 15 lakh from MP LAD funds without waiting for government sanction.

Urging people to make cleanliness part of their daily lives, she called for segregation of wet and dry waste at source and adoption of the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) principle. She said the Swachh Andhra initiative aimed to bring a lasting change in public habits rather than limit cleanliness activities to the third Saturday of every month.

The MLA appealed to people to support the coalition government in the upcoming local body elections, citing the development and welfare initiatives being undertaken in Buchireddypalem.
