Action Against Police Officials Over Ganja, Liquor Case
Ganja was allegedly found in the car after the accident, leading to allegations against the police officials.
NELLORE: Disciplinary action has been initiated against police officials in Prakasam district following a report by the district SP in connection with a case involving the alleged transportation of ganja and liquor in a car.
Santamaguluru sub-inspector V. Nagamalleswara Rao has been attached to the VR (Vacancy Reserve). Show-cause notices have been issued to the Darshi DSP, while charge memos have been served on the Ballikurava SI and Santamaguluru CI.
The action follows a road accident near Shankaravarappadu in which two SIs travelling in a car reportedly collided with an auto while trying to avoid a motorcycle. Ganja was allegedly found in the car after the accident, leading to allegations against the police officials.
Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police and the district SP visited the concerned mandals and the incident locations on Thursday and conducted a discreet inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case.
The latest disciplinary measures were taken based on the findings and report submitted by the SP, officials said.
