Royal Bengal Tiger Adopted at IGZP

VISAKHAPATNAM: Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), Visakhapatnam, welcomed Kamal International Enterprises, marketers of Bengal Tiger Premium Elaichi Tea, into its Animal Adoption Scheme with the adoption of a Royal Bengal Tiger.

The 12-year-old tiger, Manjunath, has been adopted for a three-month period from May 9 to August 8.

Proprietor Deepak Karnani, along with team members Banisetty Bhanu Venkata Pratap and Dr Udaya Kiran Allada, donated Rs. 54,000 towards the initiative.

Curator G. Mangamma thanked Kamal International Enterprises for supporting the scheme and said the initiative continues to play an important role in zoo management and wildlife conservation.

The adopters were presented with Animal Adoption Certificates and a souvenir kit as part of the programme.

Officials said the scheme encourages public participation in wildlife conservation efforts, with donations eligible for exemption under Section 80G(5) of the Income-tax Act, 1961.

Zoo officials and staff who attended the event highlighted the importance of corporate and community participation in supporting wildlife care and conservation.
