Revoke GO 102 for Admission Into MBBS Courses, Continue GO 151, Medicos’ Parents Say

Vijayawada:The Medicos’ Parents Association has called upon the state government to revoke GO MS 102, saying this order is causing injustice to students from reserved categories seeking admissions to MBBS courses.

Instead, they demanded that the government continue with GO MS 151.

Association president Dr Ala Venkateswarlu told the media here on Wednesday that the ongoing admission process for MBBS course in the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences as per GO 102 issued on July 30 was affecting the interests of the students from reserved categories. “This is also against the ruling issued by the high court in WP No 11018 of 2019.”

He said that in 2019, following injustice meted out to the students from the reserved categories during medical admission in the university in 2019, the affected students moved the HC, which in turn issued a direction to constitute a six member experts committee and take admissions in a transparent manner without affecting the spirit of reservation.

He observed that based on the recommendation of the experts committee, the state government issued GO 151 dated 4-12-2020. “Since then, the admissions in the university were being taken up accordingly.” He urged the state government to ensure admissions in the university be done as per GO 151 as it would allow the students to exercise all options.

Meanwhile, Liberation Congress Party founder president GSRKR Vijay Kumar demanded revocation of GO 102 and continuation of status quo. He alleged that GO 102 was causing confusion among the students and this denied an opportunity for several meritorious students from the backward class communities to pursue medical education.
