Repolling in eight municipal wards in Kadapa district passed off peacefully on Monday amid tight security. Police made elaborate arrangements at all polling stations to ensure that voters could exercise their franchise without disturbance.

Repolling was held in one ward in Kadapa, three wards in Jammalamadugu and four wards in Pulivendula, covering a total of 5,872 voters. No untoward incidents were reported.

The State Election Commission ordered repolling based on a report submitted by the district collector following allegations of booth capturing and preventing polling agents from entering polling stations during the polling held on November 1. The decision was taken to ensure free and fair elections in the affected wards.

Meanwhile, officials have completed arrangements for counting votes in the municipal elections scheduled for November 3. Elaborate security measures have been put in place at all counting centres to prevent untoward incidents and ensure smooth counting.

The superintendents of police of Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts have taken measures to maintain law and order during the counting. Police personnel will be deployed at the counting centres and in their surrounding areas.
