P. Ratnakar assumed charge as the director for media and communications in the Press Information Bureau (PIB) at Vijayawada on Wednesday

Vijayawada: P. Ratnakar assumed charge as the director for media and communications in the Press Information Bureau (PIB) at Vijayawada on Wednesday.
He will also serve as director of the Central Bureau of Communications (CBC) and deputy press registrar general for the Press Registrar General of India in Andhra Pradesh.
A senior officer of the Indian Information Service, Ratnakar previously served as director of the CBC regional office in Vijayawada. He has wide-ranging experience in various publicity units and news divisions of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Andhra Pradesh. He also headed the regional news unit of Doordarshan News in Vijayawada, worked at PIB in Hyderabad, and served at the erstwhile Directorate of Field Publicity (now CBC) in Kadapa.
In his new role, Ratnakar will coordinate publicity activities of central government organisations, oversee outreach programmes, and handle media-related formalities for print media entities.
