VIJAYAWADA: Regular exercise, a balanced diet, a disciplined lifestyle and preventive healthcare are essential for maintaining long-term health, Energy Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said.

Addressing participants after flagging off a 2K Run on BRTS Road here on Sunday, Vijayanand stressed the need to prioritise preventive healthcare over curative treatment. The event was organised jointly by Sri Gayathri Ayurvedic Multi-Speciality Centre and Rotary Vijayawada Midtown to mark National Ayurveda Day.

He said Ayurveda’s holistic approach remained relevant in modern times and urged people to make physical activity part of their daily routine. Walking, jogging and regular exercise, along with nutritious food and adequate rest, could help people lead healthier lives, he said.

The 2K Run, which began at 7 am, drew fitness enthusiasts, families, youngsters, Rotary members and local residents. Participants carried the message “RUN FOR HEALTH • RUN FOR WELLNESS” and highlighted the theme “Healthier Minds | Stronger Bodies | A Brighter Tomorrow”.

The organisers said the event aimed to create awareness about fitness, wellness and healthy living through community participation.
