Prakasam Police Crack Rs 37-Lakh Theft Case

NELLORE: Prakasam district police cracked a major theft case reported at Sri Venkateswara Hardware Shop in Chimakurthy town and arrested two accused, recovering gold, silver and cash worth around Rs 37 lakh.
According to police, the theft took place on May 12 after unidentified persons broke open cupboards in the shop and stole valuables and cash. Based on a complaint lodged by shop owner Addepalli Nagesh Babu, Chimakurthy police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police said the Ongole Clues Team collected scientific evidence from the crime scene, while special teams examined CCTV footage, analysed digital evidence and tracked the suspects’ movements.
During the investigation, police identified prime accused Mirapalli Prasad, a habitual offender from Nellore district, through technical analysis and crime pattern verification.
Police apprehended Mirapalli Prasad and Kumbha Sambayya near Nandanamarella village in Kanigiri mandal on May 22 while they were travelling on a scooter.
Police recovered 34 sovereigns (273 grams) of gold ornaments, around 1.8 kg of silver articles and Rs 5.95 lakh in cash. Investigators also traced bank deposits made by the accused in PDCC Bank, Pamuru, and SBI, Duttalur, and seized the remaining cash amount.
