Visakhapatnam: Election officials in the agency areas of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) and Parvathipuram Manyam districts have stepped up preparations for the MPTC and ZPTC elections, focusing on security, transparency and polling arrangements.

District election observer R. Kurmanath and election expenditure observer Dheeraj inspected strong rooms and counting centres in Ananthagiri, Pedabayalu and Munchangiputtu mandals of ASR district on Monday.

They reviewed security arrangements, facilities at counting centres and the safe storage of election materials.

The observers directed officials to follow Election Commission guidelines and ensure adequate security at strong rooms.

Returning officers, MPDOs and election personnel were asked to coordinate closely and avoid lapses in the conduct of the elections.

They also inspected a polling station at Kidagada village in Munchangiputtu mandal and reviewed voter facilities and polling arrangements.

The observers stressed the need for adequate facilities for polling staff and careful planning to ensure transparent counting.

District officials, including liaison officers, tahsildars and MPDOs, took part in the inspections.

Meanwhile, Parvathipuram Manyam district collector and district election officer Dr N. Prabhakar Reddy said campaigning would end at 5 pm on November 3, in accordance with election rules.

He directed non-local political leaders, star campaigners and party workers to leave the respective constituencies before the deadline.

Restrictions on rallies, public meetings, loudspeakers and political publicity would also be enforced during the 48-hour silence period.

Special surveillance, border check-posts and a liquor ban would remain in force until polling concludes.
