A police outpost was inaugurated at Kailasagiri on Wednesday to strengthen security and provide prompt assistance to visitors at the popular hilltop tourist destination.

Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu, VMRDA chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal and city police commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi inaugurated the facility established by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) in coordination with the city police.

Pranav Gopal said rising visitor numbers had necessitated stronger security arrangements. Police personnel would be stationed at the outpost to assist tourists and maintain law and order.

Special arrangements have also been made to manage the expected rush during the Dussehra holidays. An alternative route on the ghat road will be developed soon to ease traffic congestion, he added.

Bagchi said coordination between the police and civic authorities would improve tourist safety and facilities.

DCP Manikantha, ACPs Malleswara Rao and Srinivasa Rao, CI Srinivas, and other police and VMRDA officials attended the programme.
