Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha.

Vijayawada: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Wednesday paid tributes to police martyrs, saying their sacrifices in safeguarding India’s borders, its citizens, and maintaining law and order would remain etched in history.

Speaking at a programme on the Police Commemoration Day at AP Special Police Sixth Battalion grounds in Mangalagiri, Anitha thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for attending the event to honour the martyrs. Anitha recalled that on October 21, 1959, 10 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, while patrolling the Hot Springs area of Ladakh in extremely adverse weather conditions, confronted a sudden attack by Chinese troops and laid down their lives.

Their sacrifice has earned a permanent place in Indian police history, as they had placed national security above personal safety and duty above their own lives. The home minister urged police officers and personnel to draw inspiration from the martyrs and remain committed to protecting citizens, upholding law, and maintaining peace. Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta said the police department must support martyrs' families and ensure their welfare and future security.

He asked police personnel to remain vigilant and discharge their duties with integrity, discipline, and dedication. Earlier, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released the book “Amarulu”. Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Additional DGP (Law and Order) Madhusudhan Reddy, senior police officers, personnel and family members of martyrs attended the programme.
