Pithapuram to Be Developed as Health Hub: Jana Sena

Kakinada: Pithapuram constituency is being developed as a “model health hub”, with hospitals, primary health centres, AYUSH services and medical education facilities being expanded, the Jana Sena said in a press release on Saturday.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is overseeing the development of a 100-bed area hospital at Pithapuram, the party said. The existing 30-bed community health centre is being upgraded at an estimated cost of `34 crore, with nearly 50 per cent of the work completed.
The hospital is being built on 4.67 acres and will have an ICU, diagnostic laboratories, operation theatres, a 30-bed maternity ward and departments for paediatrics, ophthalmology and orthopaedics. A biomedical waste management facility, mortuary and one-lakh-litre water sump are also being developed.

The government is also expediting land acquisition for a Government AYUSH Medical College under the National AYUSH Mission. The project, including associated development works, is estimated to cost ₹100 crore, according to the release.
Two Primary Health Centres, each built at a cost of ₹50 lakh, at Komaragiri in U. Kothapalli mandal and Chebrolu in Gollaprolu mandal have been completed and are operational. Construction of a Government AYUSH dispensary at Viravada, taken up at a cost of ₹30 lakh, is nearing completion, the party said.
