Pawan, Purandeswari, Durgesh Mourn Medico Priyanka’s Death

Kakinada: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari, Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh and former MP and YSRC leader Margani Bharat on Sunday expressed grief over the death of PG medical student Dr Priyanka, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a road incident in Rajamahendravaram.

Students and YSRC workers also held processions and candlelight rallies seeking justice for Priyanka.

Pawan Kalyan said Priyanka’s death was deeply distressing and expressed concern that a young doctor’s life had been cut short. He said the alliance government would ensure that those responsible for the incident faced stringent punishment. He conveyed his condolences to Priyanka’s family and prayed for peace to her soul.

Durgesh said the government had taken the incident seriously from the beginning and that those responsible would not be spared. He said the accused had already been arrested and remanded, and that police had been directed, following Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s instructions, to conduct a comprehensive investigation. The government would bear the medical expenses incurred by Priyanka’s family, he said, adding that efforts would be made to expedite the investigation and ensure justice.

Purandeswari participated in a candlelight rally with students of GSL Medical College and later joined another rally seeking justice for Priyanka. She expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and said she would extend all possible support to them. She demanded stringent action against those responsible.

Margani Bharat called for a bandh of educational institutions on Monday. He alleged that the state government was attempting to weaken the case and criticised the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister for not responding adequately to the incident. He said the YSRC would continue its fight until justice was delivered to Priyanka’s family.

YSRC senior leader Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi led a candlelight rally in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday night and demanded stringent punishment for those responsible.
