Panchayat Raj AE Suicide Case: Accused Sadik Refuses To Cooperate With Police
Sources said the accused became even less cooperative because one of his lawyers repeatedly intervened whenever police questioned him firmly.
Kakinada: Sheikh Sadik Khan, the main accused in the murder of Jagadeeshwara Reddy, son-in-law of Pithapuram Panchayat Raj Assistant Engineer (AE) T Nookaraju, whose family had committed suicide, failed to cooperate with the police during the second round of custody interrogation.
Sadik Khan was reportedly asked more questions about the purchase of the cyanide allegedly used to kill Jagadeeshwara Reddy, his plan to marry Nookaraju's daughter Soujanya, and alleged forced religious conversion and the property details. He reportedly evaded them all, saying, "I don't know anything, I never said that."
Sadik, who was arrested in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and is lodged in Rajahmundry Central Prison, was brought to Sarpavaram police station on Thursday for questioning. He reportedly claimed everything in the case happened through Soujanya's involvement and that he knew nothing. When police reminded him that he had earlier admitted to mixing poison into coconut water and giving it to Jagadeeshwara Reddy, he reportedly denied saying so and told officers to "write whatever you like."
