Op Vajra Prahar: Cops Seize 97 Vehicles in Prakasam
Officials warned of strict legal action against drug trafficking and anti-social activities
Nellore: Under Operation Vajra Prahar, Prakasam police conducted cordon-and-search operations in Medarametla and Paidipadu villages on Sunday, seizing 93 motorcycles and four auto-rickshaws for lack of valid documents and number plates.
Acting on SP V. Harshavardhan Raju’s directions, teams led by Darsi DSP P. Balamuralikrishna and Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao carried out surprise checks in vulnerable areas, targeting ganja and narcotics storage, transport and sale. Houses of history-sheeters and suspected offenders were searched, while fingerprint identification devices were used to verify suspicious persons.
As part of the drive, police also conducted awareness programmes on drug abuse, cybercrime, women’s safety, road safety and new criminal laws. Rallies were organised under the slogan “Say No to Drugs,” with youth and residents taking a pledge against narcotics.
Officials warned of strict legal action against drug trafficking and anti-social activities. They also urged citizens to wear helmets, avoid drunk driving, stay alert against cyber frauds and verify documents before purchasing second-hand vehicles.
