Visakhapatnam: State Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Sunday announced that the Andhra Pradesh government will sanction pensions to new eligible widows from June 12, marking the completion of two years since the NDA coalition has formed the government in AP.

Addressing Praja Darbar, a grievance redressal programme, at his camp office in Nimmada in Srikakulam district, the minister personally received petitions from people who arrived in large numbers from various areas of Santhabommali mandal. He interacted with the applicants and assured them that their issues would be resolved at the earliest.

Atchannaidu said under the “NTR Bharosa” scheme, widows are currently receiving a monthly pension of Rs 4,000. The government would soon provide an opportunity for other eligible beneficiaries to register for the new pensions.

Assuring the public that the government will remain accessible to people at all times, the minister said welfare schemes and public services would be extended to every eligible person without discrimination.

The minister stated that the government is providing subsidies for equipment to farmers for mechanising agriculture. He advised them to register their details online to avail the benefits.

During the programme, employees working in sub-registrar offices for the past 18 years submitted a representation seeking “equal pay for equal work.” Farmers appealed to the minister to resolve irrigation-related issues in their areas.

Criticizing the previous government for neglecting lift irrigation schemes over the last five years, Atchannaidu underlined that the present government is taking special measures to revive the schemes and complete all the pending irrigation projects soon.

Senior leaders of the party participated in the programme.
