Kakinada: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) eastern offshore asset manager Prabal Sengupta has asked  officials to continuously update their knowledge of modern technologies amid the rapid evolution of petroleum and energy sectors.

Speaking as chief guest at the foundation day celebrations of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) on Thursday, Sengupta said students wishing to join ONGC must learn technical skills aligned with the industry requirements, apart from developing competencies in communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
The asset manager said platforms, such as the SPE Student Chapter, are valuable for students to connect with industry experts and gain insights into real-world industry scenarios.
Speaking on the occasion, JNTUK vice chancellor C.S.R.K. Prasad appreciated the SPE Student Chapter for its role in ensuring the professional growth of petroleum engineering students. He advised students not to limit themselves to the academic curriculum but to keep abreast of technological advancements in the industry and focus on research, innovation, and creativity.
The vice chancellor said stronger industry-academia linkages would create better opportunities for students. He expressed hope that the SPE Student Chapter would organise more technical events, industry interactions, and student leadership development programmes.
Those present on the occasion included ONGC Kakinada Asset Surface manager P. Murali, ONGC Basin manager Rajalakshmi Rajendra, First Oil Solution managing director Siva Ramakrishna, and SPE Chapter faculty adviser K.V. Rao.
