With two Brahmotsavams scheduled in Tirumala this year, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati district administration and police have stepped up preparations to manage the expected rush of devotees and vehicles.

The Salakatla Brahmotsavams will be held from September 15 to 23 and the Navaratri Brahmotsavams from October 12 to 20. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will present silk robes on behalf of the state government on September 15.

TTD executive officer Muddada Ravichandra held a coordination meeting on Thursday with additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, Collector Dr S. Venkateswar and superintendent of police L. Subba Rayudu.

Ravichandra directed officials to complete pending works by September 14 and ensure that devotees face no inconvenience. He stressed quality Annaprasadam, strengthened security and a buffer stock of 10 lakh laddus. Special arrangements were also ordered for Garuda Seva to facilitate darshan for a large number of devotees.

Additional EO Chowdary said plans were prepared considering the rising number of devotees and the experience of Ratha Saptami, when around 3.75 lakh devotees and 15,000 vehicles visited Tirumala.

He said special attention was being given to Garuda Seva and crowd management in both Tirumala and Tirupati. He said additional kitchens would be arranged and essential commodities procured in advance this year to improve food arrangements over the previous Brahmotsavams, when around 20 lakh food portions, beverages and 15 varieties of menus were served on Garuda Seva day.

The district administration is preparing disaster and crisis management arrangements, including NDRF and emergency response teams. Police will deploy additional personnel, while the district SP and TTD CVSO will finalise security deployment. Cultural programmes will feature 27 troupes from 25 states, along with two foreign troupes.
