VIJAYAWADA: A team of officials from the Ministry of Textiles and National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) visited Vignan University at Vadlamudi in Guntur district and reviewed the laboratory infrastructure developed at the institution with NTTM support.

The team included ministry’s under secretary Bhaskar Kalra, NTTM section officer Shubham Narwal and PWC / NTTM consultant Arushi Sethi. The team inaugurated the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) facility at Vignan’s Textile Technology department, strengthening advanced material characterisation, testing, and research in technical textiles.

Around 200 students attended an outreach programme where officials explained to them technical textiles, NTTM schemes, skill development, internships, entrepreneurship, and emerging career opportunities. An interaction with about 40 industry representatives focused on the PLI scheme, investments, innovation, technology, and product diversification.

Narasaraopeta MP and Vignan institutions vice chairman Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu requested the government to widen access to support schemes, reduce threshold limits, and simplify guidelines to encourage investment and entrepreneurship.
