SRM University-AP, Amaravati, and the Andhra Pradesh Drones Corporation (APDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate skill development, research, innovation, and real-world deployment of drone technology across Andhra Pradesh.

The presence of Union Civil Aviation minister K. Rammohan Naidu and Lok Sabha member Bastipati Nagaraju Panchalingala at the MoU signing ceremony underscores the growing role of drones in the state’s emerging technology and innovation ecosystem.

SRM University-AP registrar Dr. Vinayak Kalluri said drone technology is evolving rapidly. It has the potential to transform sectors, such as agriculture, infrastructure, disaster management, and healthcare. He said the MoU reflects the university’s commitment to partnerships that connect academic excellence with national and regional development priorities.

SRM University-AP dean (Research) Prof. Ranjit Thapa said the collaboration would provide a strong platform for interdisciplinary research, component development, testing, and technology demonstration. He said the partnership would particularly focus on drone applications capable of addressing real societal challenges.

Vice chancellor Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar described the agreement as an important milestone in the university’s efforts to build an ecosystem where education, research, innovation, and societal needs converge.

Centre for Drone Technology coordinator Dr. Pranav R.T. Peddinti and Centre for Geospatial Technology coordinator, Dr Harish Puppala said the partnership would focus on practical drone applications while strengthening training, research, and field-level innovation.

Those present at the signing ceremony included APDC managing director Geetanjali Sharma, additional CEO Praveen, and Drone Federation of India president Smith Shah were among those present, apart from senior SRM University-AP officials.
