VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vivek Yadav has said there is no need for misconceptions or apprehensions over the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He asserted on Thursday that every eligible voter would continue to remain on the electoral rolls.

Inspecting the SIR process at polling stations 181 in Shanti Nagar and 179 in Ankamma Nagar under the Guntur West assembly constituency, Yadav reviewed booth-level operations, interacted with BLOs and later held a review meeting with electoral registration officials at the Guntur municipal corporation.

The CEO directed officials to ensure accurate house mapping and expedite the revision process, particularly in apartment complexes, through coordination with residents' welfare associations. He also advised officials to complete door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms and resolve voter grievances through the "Book a Call" facility.

Clarifying the revision exercise, Yadav said only voters identified as absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate or foreign nationals would be removed from the electoral rolls, while all eligible electors would remain in the list. He said enumeration was nearing completion and digitisation of records would be accelerated.

Voters whose names were not included in the 2002 electoral rolls were asked to submit the required supporting documents.

Guntur municipal commissioner and electoral registration officer Mayur Ashok said the SIR exercise had been underway since June 15. Distribution of enumeration forms had reached nearly 98 per cent in the Guntur East and Guntur West assembly constituencies, while more than 25 per cent of the digitisation process had been completed.

He said BLOs were revisiting households to collect completed forms, verify details and digitally map them with the 2002 electoral rolls. Reiterating that no eligible voter's name would be deleted, Ashok urged citizens to submit their completed enumeration forms to BLOs without delay.

He said voter queries could be addressed through the Voter Helpline, the "Book a Call" service and the GMC helpline. Additional assistants had also been deployed to support BLOs and expedite the exercise.

Revenue divisional officer Srinivasa Rao, GMC additional commissioner Sambasiva Rao, DRDA project director Vijayalakshmi and others attended the review.
