Nellore Police Fail To Trace District's Missing Army Jawan
The search team comprised sub-inspectors from Varikuntapadu and Kavali, three constables, a technical assistant and one of Ravi’s relatives: Reports
NELLORE: The special police team that searched for the missing Army jawan Pagadala Ravi is returning to Nellore. The team’s search across Odisha, including railway stations between Bhadrak and Kharagpur, has failed to yield any clue about the jawan’s whereabouts.
The search team comprised sub-inspectors from Varikuntapadu and Kavali, three constables, a technical assistant and one of Ravi’s relatives.
Team members travelled nearly 200 km from Bhadrak to Kharagpur, checking with railway and civil police for information on unidentified bodies and accident victims. The team visited railway stations along the route and put up missing-person posters, appealing to the public to provide information about Ravi.
Kavali DSP V.V. Ramana Kumar said the team has found no trace of the missing jawan and is thus returning to Nellore.
Ravi, 38, of Thotalacheruvupalli village in Varikuntapadu mandal, had been serving as a safaiwala with the Army in Tengnoupal district of Manipur.
He had recently been transferred to Jammu and Kashmir. Before reporting for the new posting, the jawan had been on way to his native place on leave. On July 19, he informed his wife Varalakshmi from Dimapur Railway Station in Nagaland that he is on his way. Since then, his mobile phone has been switched off.
Investigations have traced his last phone signal at Bhadrak. But searches there have failed to provide any breakthrough.
