Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prepare plans for promoting the use of electric cycles and electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce fuel consumption.
Naidu held a video conference with representatives of EV companies from the Secretariat on Monday.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister called for supplying nearly 16,000 electric cycles to employees working in Swarna Gram-Swarna Ward offices.
He also stressed the need to facilitate easier loan access for the purchase of electric vehicles and suggested setting up a special purpose vehicle for the initiative.
Naidu directed officials to prepare an action plan for providing electric vehicles through EMI facilities and emphasised the need to establish charging stations across the state. He assured government support for the initiative.
