Says impartial functioning of the Election Commission of India is a matter of pride for the world’s largest democracy.
Vijayawada: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed his government’s willingness to work with Andhra Pradesh to strengthen ties between the two states, particularly in spiritual tourism, in view of their rich religious heritage.
Mohan Yadav arrived at Gannavaram airport to attend the Dasara celebrations in Vijayawada at the invitation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
BJP leaders, led by the party’s Andhra Pradesh in-charge Arvind Singh Bhadoria and state health minister Y. Satya Kumar, welcomed him.
Speaking to media at the airport, the MP CM described Vijayawada as a beautiful city on the banks of the Krishna. He referred to Andhra Pradesh as one of the country’s rapidly developing states. He appreciated the initiatives being undertaken by Chandrababu Naidu for the state’s development.
Mohan Yadav backed the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, contending that it is aimed at making the electoral process more transparent and impartial. He maintained that every eligible citizen must have the right to vote and that the names of ineligible persons should be removed from the voters’ list.
The MP Chief Minister said the impartial functioning of the Election Commission of India is a matter of pride for the world’s largest democracy. Political parties should seek public support based on their performance and policies, while respecting the people’s verdict regardless of the outcome, he underlined.
Mohan Yadav maintained that the Congress has suffered electoral defeats whenever it attempted to undermine the electoral process, citing developments during and after the Emergency.
He asserted that India is progressing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with various states advancing harmony between their communities while competing with each other in development.
On spiritual tourism, the CM said his government is keen on Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh launching joint initiatives to promote religious tourism, highlighting their prominent pilgrimage centres for mutual benefit.
