Morampalli Primary School Reopens After 15 Years

TIRUPATI: Children in Morampalli BC Colony of Irala mandal will no longer have to travel nearly two kilometres to a neighbouring village for primary education, with a government primary school reopening after almost 15 years.

The school, which will offer Classes I to V, was inaugurated by Chittoor district collector Sumit Kumar and Puthalapattu MLA Dr K. Murali Mohan on Tuesday.

The reopening follows a long-pending demand from parents, who had raised concerns over the daily commute undertaken by young children to attend school in a neighbouring village.

According to officials, many families in the colony depend on occupations outside the village for their livelihood. In the absence of a local school, children had to travel every day to pursue primary education. The reopened school will enable students to study within their village.

Speaking on the occasion, the collector said the district administration would ensure that the school is provided with essential infrastructure and facilities. He said the education department had been directed to maintain the quality of teaching.

He also appealed to parents to monitor their children’s attendance, hygiene and overall development to support their academic progress.

MLA Dr Murali Mohan said the reopening of the school fulfilled a long-pending demand of the villagers. He said young children should not have to travel long distances for primary education and expressed confidence that the school would improve enrolment and reduce the burden on parents.
