Mercury Rises By 5.1°C In AP

VISAKHAPATNAM: The maximum day temperature rose by 5.1°C in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, with Bapatla recording 38.9°C, the highest rise among the places monitored by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Ongole and Kavali recorded 39.3°C each, registering rises of 4.3°C and 4.8°C respectively. Nellore recorded 39°C, up 4°C, while Visakhapatnam recorded 37.4°C, a rise of 4.6°C.

“Dry weather and westerly winds led to the rise in the day temperature and these conditions will remain for some more days till a system forms over the Bay of Bengal,’’ said senior scientist at IMD, Amaravati, Dr S. Karunasagar.
