Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday questioned the state government on how it could proceed with local body elections while the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was under way.
A single judge bench headed by Justice Vaddiboyina Sujata was hearing a petition filed by YSRC general secretary Lella Appireddy, seeking directions to the State Election Commission and the state government to conduct local body elections only after completion of the ongoing SIR.
The court observed that holding the local body elections after completion of the SIR would allow those whose names were missing from the electoral rolls to seek their inclusion in the final rolls.

The court directed the registry to place the petition before a bench headed by Chief Justice Lisa Gill after obtaining permission for taking up the hearing.
