Palnadu: A case of honour killing came to light in Macherla, Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, after a man was arrested on charges of killing his married daughter, because she had married a man against his wishes.

As per reports, Chowdeswari (22) was reported to have been found dead under mysterious circumstances on March 18th, 2026, but the post-mortem reports confirmed that it was not a case of suicide, but she was killed by her own father.

According to police, the victim’s father, Chandrasreenu, a local businessman, had arranged her marriage to a government school teacher. However, just two days before the engagement ceremony, Chowdeswari eloped with Nagaraju from Jammalamadaka village. whom she was in love with, and married him. In a fit of anger, Chandrasreenu filed a police complaint falsely accusing his daughter of stealing gold jewelry from the home. The girl and Nagaraju were brought to the police station, and Chowdeswari denied taking anything from the home, to which her father disagreed. Police intervened and mediated between them in an agreement that Chowdeswari would stay at her parents’ home for five days before returning to her husband.

But on March 18, one day before she was to leave, Chandrasreenu hatched a plan to kill her. After sending his wife and son to the fields, he called his nephew Pachipala Seenu, and they suffocated Chowdeswari with a pillow while she was sleeping and staged it to look like she had committed suicide by hanging. However, the post-mortem report confirmed that she was killed and it was not a suicide as reported. Following police interrogation, Chandrasreenu confessed to the crime.
