Maha Satyagraha Deeksha for RARS in Nandyal on July 25

KURNOOL: The All-Party Joint Action Committee (JAC) will organise a Maha Satyagraha Deeksha in Nandyal on July 25 to highlight issues relating to farmers, food security and protection of public assets, JAC convener Eruva Ramachandra Reddy said.
Addressing a meeting at the JAC office in Nandyal on Thursday, he appealed to people to participate in the protest, which will be held from 9 am to 2 pm at the Nandyal Market Yard.
Ramachandra Reddy said an awareness campaigns had been conducted across the district over the past 10 days in support of the deeksha. According to him, JAC leaders met around 10,000 families, explaining the importance of the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), market yards and their benefits to farmers, besides distributing pamphlets.
He alleged that nearly two acres of government land, valued at around `60 crore, at the Noonepalle Market Yard had been leased for 33 years for the construction of a political party office. He claimed the decision was contrary to the objective of protecting public assets and urged the government to review it.
Ramachandra Reddy said the Regional Agricultural Research Station in Nandyal, with a history of more than 120 years, has played a significant role in the agricultural development of Rayalaseema.
