Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav on Saturday called upon party workers to strengthen the organisation and prepare for the forthcoming local body elections.

Addressing a state-level meeting of party workers in Vijayawada, Madhav urged the cadre to take the NDA government's developmental initiatives to the people and highlight the Centre's support for Andhra Pradesh.

He said the BJP-led NDA government had extended substantial financial assistance for key projects, including the Polavaram irrigation project, the development of Amaravati, establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters, development of industrial corridors in Rayalaseema and promotion of investments in the state.

Madhav asked party workers to explain to the public the Centre's commitment to funding the Polavaram project, describing it as a major contribution by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He urged party workers to be prepared to contest elections for posts such as sarpanch, ZPTC, MPTC and municipal ward member, and advised them to formulate action plans and mobilise resources well in advance.

Stating that the BJP's popularity had grown across the country, Madhav said the party should work to strengthen its presence in Andhra Pradesh by reaching out to more people and expanding its grassroots organisation.
