Burglars Loot Vegetable Trader’s Lifetime Savings
Police suspect the involvement of an inter-state burglary gang
KADAPA: Unidentified burglars decamped with about 30 tolas of gold ornaments and `50,000 in cash from a house at Pusala Colony near the high school in Galiveedu of Annamayya district on Friday night.
According to police, the victims, Ramachandra and his wife Ranemma, have been earning a livelihood through a small-scale vegetable sales business for over four decades. Before leaving for the Konampeta weekly market, the couple reportedly kept their lifetime savings and gold ornaments received during their son's marriage in a cupboard at their residence.
As there were no bus services to return home that night, they stayed at their daughter's house. On returning the next morning, they found the main door and the cupboard broken open and the valuables missing.
Following a complaint, the Lakkireddipalli circle inspector and Galiveedu sub-inspector, accompanied by a dog squad, inspected the scene and collected clues. A case was registered and investigation is underway. police suspect the involvement of an inter-state burglary gang.
