Lokesh Stresses Values-Based Education, Honours Cultural Icons

Vijayawada: Education minister Nara Lokesh on Tuesday underscored the importance of value-based education and preserving the state's rich cultural heritage, when he met renowned spiritual scholar Brahmasri Chaganti Koteswara Rao and classical singer Shobha Raju here.
Receiving Chaganti Koteswara Rao at his residence, Lokesh discussed with him the ways to inculcate moral values, discipline and ethical conduct among children from an early age, so as to shape them into responsible citizens. Chaganti explained that education rooted in ethics was essential for the holistic development of students and society.
The spiritualist expressed satisfaction that he could be contributing to the AP government's efforts to strengthen value-based education. He pointed out that moral education modules designed under his guidance are already being taught to students in government schools on No Bag Day as part of the state's initiative to integrate ethical learning with regular education.

Later, the minister met celebrated Carnatic vocalist and Padma Shri recipient Shobha Raju, who popularised the devotional compositions of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya. Shobha Raju presented Lokesh with a portrait of Annamacharya, while the minister honoured her with an idol of Lord Venkateswara.
Lokesh praised the veteran musician for her lifelong contributions to preserving and promoting Telugu culture, Sanatana Dharma, spirituality and the musical legacy of Annamacharya. He said her efforts have helped carry the timeless devotional tradition to future generations.
