VIJAYAWADA: Intervention by the Andhra Pradesh Institution of Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta has helped two individuals receive financial relief and house plot allotments under the Polavaram Project’s Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) package.

Upa-Lokayukta P. Rajani issued a common order in response to petitions filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri. Both had approached the institution after being excluded from the R&R benefits despite residing within the project-affected area.

Following the Lokayukta’s intervention, the Polavaram Project administrator and ex-officio joint collector submitted an action taken report. It confirmed that both complainants had been included in the supplementary draft of the R&R scheme. Each was paid ₹6,36,000 in R&R compensation and ₹25,000 separately, along with being allotted house plots.

It may be noted that the state government had earlier sanctioned ₹9.50 crore for the benefit of all displaced families in Kumari Lova village of Tuni mandal, in the erstwhile East Godavari district.
