Liquor Scam: SC Reserves Verdict in Plea Filed by Rajasekhar Reddy
Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy challenges legality of CID arrest from Telangana
Vijayawada: The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict after completion of hearing of the petition filed against the arrest of AP liquor scam case prime accused Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy.
A division bench of Justice Pardiwala heard the petition on Monday and reserved its verdict.
AP government’s senior counsel Siddartha Luthra argued that at the time of arrest, Rajasekhar Reddy did not raise any objection. He was booked under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. However, he later claimed the arrest was illegal.
Rajasekhar Reddy’s father, Upendar Reddy, filed the petition in the apex court claiming that the state CID did not have the authority to serve notice to his son living in Hyderabad, Telangana state.
After hearing both parties, the court announced completion of hearing and said it would pronounce the verdict at a later date. The court opined that Rajasekhar Reddy should move the AP High Court for getting bail in the case.
