VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh recorded a 6.11 per cent rise in liquor sales value in 2025–26, though overall revenue growth remained marginal.

The total sales value increased to `31,237 crore from `29,440 crore. Sales of both Indian Made Liquor (IML) and beer registered significant growth.

Despite higher volumes, total revenue rose by only 0.68 per cent, reflecting the impact of pricing changes and reduced contributions from other revenue streams.

Year-to-date data from April 1 to March 31 shows IML sales increased from 362 lakh cases to 414 lakh cases, a growth of 14.59 per cent. Beer sales surged by 70.29 per cent, rising from 136 lakh cases to 232 lakh cases.

Revenue from liquor sales rose moderately from `24,734 crore to `25,727 crore, marking a 4.01 per cent increase.

However, revenue under the ‘LF and Others’ category declined sharply by 19.37 per cent, from `4,112 crore to `3,316 crore, impacting overall revenue growth, which rose marginally from `28,846 crore to `29,042 crore.

Excise authorities said that although sales volumes increased significantly, revenue growth was limited due to a higher share of low-priced products. A substantial portion of sales came from `99-priced 180 ml packs, resulting in an estimated loss of `442 crore, while price reductions in popular brands led to a further estimated loss of `972 crore.

The average price of a 180 ml bottle declined from `180 to `160 compared to the previous financial year. Additionally, the absence of the non-refundable application fee, which earlier contributed around `1,900 crore, also affected overall revenue growth.
