Land Grievances, Encroachment Charges Dominate TD’s Public Petition Drive

 Vijayawada: Allegations of land grabbing, intimidation, forged records, mainly through official collusion, dominated the public grievance programme held at the Telugu Desam central office on Tuesday.

Harried citizens from several districts sought government intervention in long-pending property disputes.

Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar received the representations and assured the complainants that the government would make serious efforts to resolve such grievances.

Among the complaints was that of Mote Maheswarayya of Ramakrishnapuram village in Nandyal district, who alleged that YSR Congress leaders, with the support of revenue officials, attempted to usurp his 4.20-acre registered land in Survey No. 725/1. He said officials prepared false survey reports without visiting the site, enabling 1.17 acres to be illegally transferred in another person's name. He alleged that local YSRC leaders threatened to assault and eliminate his family.

K. Anjaneyulu of Badvel in YSR Kadapa district alleged that his compound wall was demolished, valuables and property documents were stolen and, later, his house was razed despite police complaints. He accused local police officers of colluding with the accused.

Several other petitioners narrated similar grievances. Doopam Madhavi of Pyapili alleged that a former YSRC vice-sarpanch threatened her despite a court order confirming ownership of her land.

P. Dileep Kumar of Annamayya district alleged attempts to encroach upon his family's century-old ancestral land using forged documents. Nandyal resident Eswar Babu complained that buildings and sheds on his legally owned property were demolished by a YSRC leader.

Petitions were also submitted by farmers and property owners from YSR Kadapa, Tirupati, Kurnool and Nandyal districts alleging illegal occupation, fabricated documents, survey disputes, police inaction, threats and harassment. Others sought redress for pension, ration card, housing and employment issues, while several requested financial assistance for medical treatment.
